A teacher at the Broken Hill High School was amazed to see the Red flag bearing Communist symbols flying at the masthead of the flagpole, and boys underneath singing “Solidarity Forever.” The boys refused to haul the flag down. A clash between Communists and citizens occurred at Mildura, resulting ■in eight Reds being admitted to the hospital. About forty Communists tried to cause trouble among the fruit-picking workers, and several were thrown into the river.
