AN INVERCARGILL CANDIDATE. [PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] INVERCARGILL, October 30. Mr. George Agnew, who was recently selected as tho official Reform candidate for Invercargill, announces that, in response to the representations from a large body of Reform supporters, he has decided to accede to their request that he should offer himself as an Independent Reform candidate at the coming poll. . . 1 Mr. Agnew states that his ’ decision is arrived at, not in any spirit of disloyalty to the Reform Party, which he had consistently supported, but solely in deference to the wishes of his local supporters. At a meeting of the Awarua Reform supporters to-night, it was decided to ask Mr. Coates to come to Southland, for the purpose of explaining the position with regard to the selection of official coalition candidates. CANTERBURY CO-OPERATION CHRISTCHURCH, October 31. The Christchurch Executive of the United Political Party, at a meeting held last evening, decided to give full support to the Coalition Government, and to stand in loyally with the arrangements made by the Party leaders, in regard to the nomination of candidates for the Canterbury seats. A committee was set up to meet the Reform executive, in order to make plans for the election campaign. — .MILTON INDEPENDENT. HAMILTON, October 31. Mr Charles Lafferty is standing as an Independent candidate for the Hamilton seat.
