INDIAN UNREST
BRITISH MERCHANT SHOT [BY CABLE—PBESS ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] (Rec. October 30, 10 a.m.) CALCUTTA, October 29. Edward Villiers, a Calcutta merchant, and President of the European Association of India narrowly escaped assassination. While talking to two Britishers at his office, a young Indian rushed into the room fired three shots, one striking Villiers on the right side of the body. The assailant was captured by the Europeans.
