AMBULANCE OVER BANK. [PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, October 27. Disaster befel a St. John Ambulance when proceeding from Auckland to Hunua to collect a patient who was to be brought to the ctiy. The ambulance was three miles from Papakura, when it fell over a bank anfl dropped 30 feet, and then rolled 60 feet. Corps Officer Potts of the St. John Association, was killed outright. The driver of the ambulance, Peter Hatton, received cuts on the head, but his condition is not serious. LATER. Further details show that the ambuianep, after falling over the bank, crashed through a fence and rolled across a paddock. It came to rest on its side, and was much damaged, the chassis being twisted and all the glass cquiment inside smashed. Corps Officer Potts was ci ushed beneath the vehicleLORRY DRIVER KILLED. NELSON, October 28. William Henry Wise, motor lorry driver, of Motueka, was killed at Pokororo yesterday afternoon. Deceased was crossing the Pokororo swing bridge over the Motueka River, when the cross beams of the bridge broke away, and the lorry fell twenty feet into four feet of water. Deceased was pinned against the seat. Respiratory measures failed, and it was found that he had sustained severe head injuries.
