* TORTOISE WINS £7OO. Over a 75ft course at Oklahoma City recently a classic race was won at a record speed of .07123 miles an hour. This was the Ranch Underslung Derby for tortoises, reports the “New York Herald’’ (Paris Edition), and it was won by an outsider, a little gon-hdr-tortoise named Pebblestone. Its owner gained a prize of £7OO.
