BIBLE CLASS UNION
LABOUR DAY RALLY. The Anglican Bible Classes of Greymouth, Cobden and Runanga, with 35 visiting members from Hokitika, held a picnic yesterday at Boddytown. The many hued blazers and gay berets added a touch of colour to the gathering. A. sports programme was carried out in spite of the unsettled weather. The party returned at 5.30 p.m., damp but hilarious. Ninety nine sat down to tea in the schoolroom. The tables were decorated with red and blue streamers and with bowls of apple blossom. The visitors were duly welcomed after tea and prizes distributed to the sports winners at 7 p.m. a devotional service was held in Holy Trinity Church. An inspiring address was given by the Rev. W. A. Beaumont on St. Paul’s question “Lord, what will Thou have me to do?” Later in the evening a social gathering was attended by 130 young people. After supper the visitors returned by bus to Hokitika. The arrangements for the rally were made by Mr and Mrs E. D. Orr, of Greymouth, assisted by Mr and Mrs Brooks, of Hokitika. A return rally will be held in Hokitika early next year.
