RESERVED SEATS AT DANCES.
[TO the editob.] Sir, —Kindly allow me a space in your columns to make known a new idea, viz, “reserved seats at dances. At the Mawiiera Hockey Club and Bia keto wn Football Clubs’ combined dance held on Saturday night, a young lady was requested to stand and give her seat to another. On refusing to do so the young lady stated she had paid to go to the dance the same as anyone else. On keeping the seat the “gentleman’ of the party requested the M.C. to remove the young lady to allow one of his party to sit down. A quiet request from the M C. to leave the seat was forthcoming, who stated that the party had paid to reserve the seat for every Saturday night, and arrived at the daaice at 8.45 to take possession. The young lady was much surprised to hear from the M.C. that the seats were reserved and stated she had never heard of such, however she reluctantly left the seat. Now Sir, I would ask the committee of this dance to please advertise the price for “reserved seats" and where the seats can be booked, also would they kindly place “Reserved seat” cards on seats and avoid any further misunderstanding as „the lady was unaware of “poaching.” —I am, etc., “DANCER.”
