GREYMOUTH CLUB’S REPORT. The following report on the past season’s activities will be presented at the annual meeting this evening, of the Greymouth Tennis Club: —The club has once again had a most successful year in every way. Although indifferent weather conditions prevailed throughout the season various inter-club matches were played. More interest than has usually been the case 'was evinced in ladder matches, both in the ladies’ and men’s sections, and it is to be hoped that these matches will be contested this season with the same enthusiasm and sportsmanship as was the case in the past year. The results of the inter-club matches were as follow:—A team: The first of the two matches with Hokitika finished -with a result unusual in tennis —a draw, but the second was won by Greymouth by 15 sets to 9. Against United, one match was won and one lost. B team: Against Hokitika one match was won and one lost. Against United both matches were won. Matches were also played against Westport twice and Reefton. The first match against Westport was lost and the second won, and the match against Reefton was lost- Both club championships changed hands, Mrs F. B. Lawn and Mr W. P. McCarthy proving the winners.

We were again favoured with a visit from the Canterbury Suburban team, who played matches at Hokitika, Greymouth and Westport and concluded their visit by competing in the West Coast Championships. That their visit was a benefit to Coast tennis there is no doubt. The club was poorly represented in numbers at the West Coast Championships and it behoves more members to endeavour to attend future tournaments as we will look forward to the support of other clubs when it is our turn to have the tournament at Greymouth. The only member of our club to meet with success at the Championships was W. P. McCarthy, and we have to congratulate him upon being runner-up in the Men’s championship Singles. The club financially, is in a sound position. The thanks of the club are due to the ladies for the capable way in which they managed the afternoon teas, and also to the press for the publicity given to the club’s competition and.matches. The club also wishes to place on record its appreciation of the great work done by Mr F. M. Dennehy in the best interests of the club. SAN FRANCISCO, September 30. In the Pacific Coast tennis tourney, Gordon Jason (San Francisco) defeated Mangin 6-4, 6-4. Stratford (San Francisco) beat Hughes (England) 10-8, 1-6, 6-3. Lott defeated Levy 6-2, 7-5. Perry defeated Driscoll (San Francisco) 6-4, 6-2. Grenhill defeated Mer 6-2, 6-8, 6-3. Wood defeated Stoefen 4-6, 9-7, 11-9.
