The posi tion, therefore, is still in the balance. SCOTTISH TRAGEDY.
LONDON, December 4. There was a poignant tragedy at the Viewpoint Colliery, in Lanarkshire, when two men were buried by a fall of one hundred tons from the roof. The rescuers were encouraged by hearing a faint voice, and they reached the spot and saved one of the men, who was injured. The other man was in the arms of a rescuer and was being given a drink of water, when he saw another*fall coming. Then he said, “Good-bye, boys!” and he was struck on the head and killed, His body was again buried.
