MAYOR OF GRAFTON
ALLEGED FAILURE TO PAY RATE GRAFTON (N.S.W)., November 13. There was a mild sensation at a meeting of the South Grafton Municipal Council, when Aiderman T. Agst moved a motion of no-confidence in the Mayor (Alderman J. Flaherty). In the .^ e Clerk was a list of defaulting ratepayers, and this included the Mayor, who retired from the chamber while the report was considered. Aiderman Agst moved that the amount of rates owing by the Mayor should be deducted from the Mayoral allowance, but there was no seconder. He then moved that the Mayor should be prosecuted for nonpayment of rates, and this also lapsed for want of a seconder. ■ {
At a later stage Aiderman Agst inoved a motion of no-confidence in '? Aldetman Agst was not supported by any other alderman, and the motion was defeated.
