After a party of natives had exorcised any bad spirits that might have taken -refuge in the carved house, the Governor-General and Lady Alice Fergusson were accorded a typical Maori welcome, and the aged Mita Taupopoki conveyed greetings from the Arawas, while presentations of Maori treasures were made to Sir Charles, and Lady Alice, and Sir Edwin Mitchelsoh. MEAT WORKS SUPPLIES GISBORNE, Nov. 30. Unequivocal terms were employed by Mr. J. W. Ltd., when he charged a section of the shareholders with disloyalty to themselves, to their Company, and to the financial and business concerns with which the Company deals. He remarked: “The writing is on the wall, staring you in the face. It plainly says that, unless a supply of stock is forthcoming, your works must close down.”
