EMPIRE FREE TRADE
SIR J; PARR’S OPINION. (By .Cahle--PreßB Assn. —Copyright.) .< >. LONDON, November 29. Sir James Parr at a dinner given by the Bristol',shipowners, made lengthy reference to Empire free trade. He said that the Dominions would be having nothing but praise for Lord Beaverbrook’s courageous exposition of Empire free trade. Personally, he did not think much of the dear food objection. He said;: “The British farmers should be given the first chance. They, with their kinsmen farmers of the Dominions |could within five years supply the Motherland with all the food she could eat without an increase in the prices. As to the other objection, that the, Dominions fear that- their own industries would be swamped by cheaper goods, I do -not believe that it is beyond the ability of shrewd capable business men to mdke such an adjustment as would admit of a. satisfactory solution of this problem. The idea is a great and a noble one. It is up to you and me to see if it cannot be translated, into action.” . , ■,
