Archaeologists have unearthed, at Gyrene, a marble slab on which is inscribed the will of the Egyptian King Ptolemy VIII., bequeathing his kingdom to the Romans in the event of his death without an heir. CANADIAN PRODUCE. VANCOUVER, August 29. Closing a five weeks’ tour of British Columbia, Mr R. B. Bennett, Conservative leader, speaking at Fernie, again contended that the New Zealand trade treaty had worked to the disadvantage of Canada, and had destroyed the Canadian dairy industry. KING’S NEW CAR.

A six-wheeler Crossley car of great speed, comfort, and adaptability, has been specially constructed for the King. It is designed for the moors and for estate inspection. It travels smoothly over rough or broken ground, over loose sand, and even over ploughed land, and will enable the King to follow the guns in comfort and go anywhere where wheels can get a. footing. The rating of the new vehicle is 19 horse-power, and there are four forward speeds and reverse, and an auxiliary gearing system giving a further extra low-gear - range of four speeds for use under extreme conditions.
