MOTOR SHIP’S VOYAGE

A FAsTtRIP. (Special to ‘‘Star.”) AUCKLAND,, August 28. A fast voyage from London to Auckland was made by the Shaw Savill and Albion motor ship Karamea, which arrived early yesterday morning. The vessel was considerably delayed by fogs and stormy weather, otherwise >tihe performance would have been much better. The Karamea sailed from London on July 24, and the steaming time to Auckland was 31 days 19 hours 24' minutes, which is only one day one hour fifty-six minutes longer than the voyage of the Company’s steamer Mataroa early UTis year. The Mataroa’s.voyage was a record from Southampton to Auckland, but the distance is 120 miles Jess than that from London to Auckland. The Mataroa’s average speed was 15.2 knots, compared with the Karamea’s 14.75 knots.
