RUGBY FOOTBALL

TO-MORROW’S GAMES.

Two senior Rugby fixtures will be played on Victoria Park to-morrow, and one at Brunner. Kiwis and Blaketown should provide an interesting game, fast and possibly very even. Excelsiors, the leading team in the competition, will meet Stars, and this is expected to be one of the season’s most interesting games. Stars have improved steadily during the season, and may fully extend the southern side.

United and Brunner will play at Brunner, and should draw a good crowd from the country area. The Brunner team has been strengthened by the inclusion of several exMagpie players, which should make the game interesting. Junior games should all be worth watching. Kumara and Blaketown will play at Kumara, Cobden and United at Cobden at 3 p.m., and Brunner and Stars at the Park. Third and fourth grade fixtures complete a fine bill of Rugby fare. INJURED PLAYER RULE. (Australian Press Association.) (By Cable—Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, August 1. There is an agitation in Sydney Rugby Union circles to abolish the rule which permits a team to replace an injured player during the first half of the game. This occurred during the New Zealand-Australian recent matches, and is described in the Press as farcical, which states that it is not allowed by the English Rugby Union and should not be countenanced either in Australia or New Zealand. It is understood that Porter, captain of the All Blacks, does not approve of the replacement of injured men.
