COTTON INDUSTRY

A GOVERNMENT ENQUIRY. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 31. The Prime Minister has appointed the following sub-committee of the Committee of Civil Research to enquire into the cotton industry. Mi Graham (President of the Board of Trade, Chairmfan), Alexander (First Lord of the Admiralty), Sir Allan Anderson, Mr Joseph Jones and Sir William McLintock. The terms of reference will be to consider and report upon the present condition, and the prospects of the cotton industry, and make recommendations as to any action which may appear desirable and practicable in order to improve the position of this industry in the markets of the world.” Mr Jones is secretary to the Yorkshire Mill Owners’ Association. Sir W. McLintock is senior partner of Thomson McLintock ' and Company, chartered accountants, and has been a member of the Royal Commission on Income Tax, the National Debt and Taxation Committee, and the Unemployment Insurance Committee.
