HOAX BY ETON BOY

ENTERTAINED AS “PRINCE” LONDON, July 8. An extraordinary hoax by a young Etonian is disclosed in the “Daily Mail.” Encouraged by a viscount, he impersonated that totally mythical foreign royalty, “the Crown Prince Rupert of Holland,” at a house party given by a prominent city man on Thursday night. An hour before the dinner the viscount telephoned to the house to ask whether he might bring “the Crown Prince,” and by the time the “Crown Prince” arrived everything was ready for his reception. Describing - the affair, “Prince Rupert” said: “When we arrived I assumed a guttural accent, and was offered a cocktail. We then went in to dinner, with myself at the head of the procession.' I was asked a number of questions about Holland, which I found most embarrassing, but fortunately nobody knew Dutch. When we departed I promised my hostess a number of choice bulbs to place in her garden from my own estate near Amsterdam.”
