HARBOUR BOARD’S SECTION.
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—At last meeting of the Harbour Board the matter of the paddock used by me was discussed. I do not mind receiving notice to quit the paddock, but would expect Mr McLean, the Chairman of the Board, to bo at least honest in dealing with the matter. He referred to me as just squatting there and paying no rent. This is entirely unfair as I have previously asked Mr McLean for a lease of the paddock and was quite prepared to pay for same. Why did Mr McLean hide these facts? Was there any ulterior motive behind same? Mr Teniient also spoke on this matter, but perhaps his memory has taken him back a few years to an incident which occurred, and he wishes to get even as the saying goes. But I would like to point out that Mr Tennent’s firm also has stables in the same quarters, and they are right up against private houses, and if there is any nuisance created with the stables I was usingthen the nuisance in his case must bo doubly so. In conclusion, Mr Editor, I wish to say I have no complaints at being asked to shift as I expected Ihis at any time and had already made provision for same, but 1 only want the true facts made public by Mr McLean. Yours etc.,
D. MORGAN
