MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED

FIRE FOLLOWS COLLISION. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, June 25. George Jonathan Pine, aged 19 years, died in Christchurch Hospital af noon to-day as the result of terrible injuries received in a collision between a. motor cycle he was riding and a. motor truck on Riccarton Road this morning. Pine was riding on a piece of road, bitumen-paved, facing the rays of the morning sun. As he was passing W. J.' Bowman’s yard, a motor truck driven by R. Giles, came out on to the road. The motor cycle hit the truck with a Terrific crash. The motor cycle’s petrol tank burst, and the petrol filed, enveloping Pine, his motor cycle, and the bonnet of the truck in fidmes. Pine was dragged from the burning truck with his clothing afire, and was terribly burned. He wasrush?d to the hospital, but he lived only a few hours.

A chemical extinguisher was effective in saving the.truck from complete destruction.

Pine was the son of the liQrsetrainer, George J. Pine.
