FORGED NOTES
HUNGARIAN RECRIMINATIONS
(Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)
BUDAPEST, January 29.
The Social Democrats moved a motion in the Assembly demanding the Ministry’s immediate resignation, and tiie supplanting of Admiral Horthy’s regency by a State Council. • The motion was followed by the stormiest scenes, in which the Social Democrats declared that Count Beth-r len’s Party were involved in the forged notes scandal.
Budapest messages state that the forged, bank notes affair continues to be the subject of inquiry by a Parliamentary Committee, and a police inquiry is demanded. The French authorities are also pursuing the matter. A French police Commissioner, Foulcet, repeatedly is urging the reexamination of Prince Windisgraetz ami Police Chief Nadossy to clear up alleged discrepancies in their evidence. Foulcet also declared it must be ascertained where the paper used to manufacture the forged notes was procured, and where the machinery used in the process was hidden, for the French authorities are of opinion that it will yet be found in Hungary. The Premier, Count Bethlen, in a speech in regard to the affair, declared that if the Cabinet found it had made mistakes, members would resign. He was determined to clear up the affair. The Government had nothing to hide. The attacks from abroad had originated from some . despicable Huugarions, who knew their only chance of success was to plunge honest leaders into the mire.
