Interesting rricirig characterised the meeting held by the Greymriuth Athletic and Cycling Clu'b a& .Victoria Park last evening. The lack (it nterest shown by the public, was disheartening, the “gate” producing only about a couple of pounds. ; Results were as follow: —

Jacobsen 50/yds. In a good finish Baty won by two lengths? O’Leary fell when entering thostraight, but escaped with a shaking. Time 1.11.
75 Yards Dash Handicap.—First heat: M. Jamieson, s"cl, 1;; Wall's; .3 yds., 2; McEnaney, 4 yds, 3. Five started. Time 8 1-5. The race was run on the trotting track. Second heat: C. Lamont, 1 yd., 1; H. Lamont,' 5 yds., 2; H. W. Brown, 2 yds., 3. Also ran: Jones. Time 8 1-5. Final: M. Jamieson, 1; C. Lamont, 2; Walls, 3. From a good start, the scratch man, running strongly, crime through in good style, and wop'.decisively. Time 8 1-5.
Another ffieeting will be held at the Park riext Thursday evening, nominations for which will close on Monday next. The programme is advertised in this issue.
< KUMARA JUBILEE SPORTS . <
The sports meeting, to be held in Kumara op Monday and Tuesday, March 1 and 2, during the Jubilee celebrations, promises to be a big attraction. A number of New Zealand’s crack athletes, runners, Cyclists, choppers and sawyers will vtisit the West Coast for the meeting, and the fact that the cream of New Zealand, athletes will try conclusions will doubtless provide attractive competition. The fact that big prizes have') been voted will be sufficient to warrant good athletes visiting the meeting. /The principal events to" be decided at the meeting will be the underhand qhqp, for which £SO in cash will be distributed, and the Sheffield 135 yards Handicap, for which £SO has bCeri allotted. The £3O upright chop will also produce good competitiori. Nominations close on Saturday, xiy handicaps are due on Friday, February 12, and acceptances close on Saturday, February 20. The Stillwater Gun Club’s ./first shoot, which was postponed last week owing to weather conditions, will take place on Sunday next. Special prizes have been donated. Great interest Js being taken in the Club and it is expected that many shootists from other Clubs will be present. The ladies q£ Stillwater will supply afternoon tea and refreshments.
