ZEPPELIN DEAL

AMERICAN FIRM’S PURCHASE. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, November 1. The Goodyear Rubber Company has announced that it has purchased from the German Zeppelin Company the right to construct zeppelins in the United States. It is understood the Goodyear Company contemplates bringing a corps of experienced German builders, designers and engineers from the Zeppelin factories at Friederichshaven to Akron, Ohio, where a plant will be erected for the purpose of making the United States a large producer of the rigid type of airship for military and commercial uses. The Goodyear Company at the present time are making arrangements for the War Department’s cooperation in their scheme. A message from Akron, Ohio, says the right to manufacture zeppelins, I purchased by the Goodyear Company,. includes the right to manufacture all the engines, machinery, and auxiliar-. ies. The price is not announced, | but it is said to be the highest in 1 the history of international aviation.
