(Special to the Star.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Sir George Clifford’s Stonyhurst Stud has suffered a severe loss by the untimely death of the stallion Jbezoniun, who was only recently purchased by Sir George Clifford from the Waikanae Stud. Last season Lezonian was > sixth on the list of winning sires with £9087 to his credit.

At lliccarton on Saturday morning Kilrush did a good gallop, his recent racing having improved him. Glencanny went two rounds, but appeared to be moving somewhat short. Warlike ran nine furlongs in 1.59 2-5. It was a sterling performance. Nightraider registered a really good gallop over a mile and a half, which the Cup candidate left behind in 2.38 2-6.

Michaela has been scratched for the Stewards Handicap. Oratress came into a lot of favour during the latter end of the week in connection with the Cup, the support evidently coming from the right quarter. At Addinkton, Author Dillon, by himself registered the fastest work-out over a mile and a half ever recorded at Addington, covering the distance in 3.14. He was not driven right out and finished particularly well. Matchlight beat Ret a Peter over a mile and a half in 3.20. It was a nice performance on the part of Matchlight, who is very well.
