KOKATAHI CO-OP. DAIRY CO., LTD.

— NINETEENTH ANNUAL MEETING. The annual report to ho submitted to the 19th Annual General Meeting, to be held at Kokatahi on Saturday, July 27th, is as follows: 'This year the company has received from its suppliers 522,5581 bs. of cream, from which wo have obtained 197,460 lbs. of butter-fat, from which has been made 229,6761b5. of commercial butter —lO2l, tons. Nearly all this butter has been exported, or has been sold in Wellington. Though tho problem of obtaining sufficient shipping lias always been omnipresent, yet we are so far fortunate as to have cleared the whole of last season’s output. When the butter was sold to the Imperial Government, it was on the understanding that half the profits made were to be given to tho producers. In spite of the big fight that lias been put up on our behalf by tho National Dairy Association, we have, as yet, received no indication of the Imperial Government redeeming its promise. The Danish producer is getting for his butter more than double the price wa have received, and the loss which is _ sustained by the Imperial Government by (he Danish butter purchase is being redeemed by the gain made on Colonial produce. The problem of securing sufficient shipping for the coming seas3n is now exercising the minds of onr leading statesmen. Nearly all shipping is being used for American transport, which, we think, will not be carried on bo energetically during the northern winter. We expect that much of it will then he deflected into the Colonial trade. Two or three months of active exporting will soon place our trade in a good position. j The retiring directors this year are Messrs Fleming and Lang, and the retiring auditor is Mr. J. J. Clarke. All of these gentlemen are eligible for reelection. We should like to place on record onr sincere sympathy with the relatives of those Kokatahi and Koiterangi sold’ers who have fallen in battle. Two cf our suppliers and several of our suppliers’ sons have given up their lives in their country’s cause. This district can ill-afford the loss of these young men, who were worthy sons of this land, and whose work was for the betterment of this district especially.
