GREY MAGISTRATE'S COURT.

MONDAY, JULY 22nd

(.Before Mr. T. Hutchison, S.M.) Fines of 20s each were imjjosecl on two first offenders who were found on licensed premises after hours, wnile Robert Mclntyre charged for a similar offence, being a second occasion, was mulcted in a fine of 30s. Robert Leonard Knight was also convicted and fined 20s, while like penalties were inflicted on James Mineall and Horace Moore.

LICENSEE IN TROUBLE. Ann O'Donnell, licensee of the Ehv pire Hotel, who entered a plea of guilty, was represented by Mr Hannan, and was charged with selling liquor after closing hours, exposing liquor for sale, keeping licensed premises open for the sale of liquor after hours, allowing liquor to be consumed after hours, while Patrick O'Donnell being a person other than licensee was charged with supplying liquor during prohibited hours. In the last three instances the charges were withdrawn, while on the initial count a fine of £5 10s and 7s costs was imposed. The other defendant, who was also represented by Mr. Hannan, and who pleaded guilty, was fined 20s and 7s costs. BY LAW BREACHES Frank Stewart, Ernest Warnes. Michael Connelly, and John Gibbin, who rode bicycles at night without lights were each fined ss, while Llewellyn Williams and Percy Doogan, who preferred footpaths to the road for passage of their machines, were similarly penalised.
