A DEADLOCK REACHED,
NO CABINET ACTION

WELLINGTON, This Day. Both tlie Mine Owners and the Miners' Federation approached tiie Government recently in connection with the miners' demand for increased wages, and the Government practically acted as intermediaries.
Hon. W. D. S. MacDonald, Minister of Mines, was asked on Satin-hy if th- Government propose to rake v't/m in view of the apparent deadlock. He said that he had written informing the Miners' Federation that the coal°owners had expressed willingness to meet the individual unions with which they had made agreements. The Cabinet had decided to take no action.
