CAPTURE OF IRLES.
A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. LONDON, March 11, Air Philip Gibbs stales thai hies village, standing on high ground beyond Pys, was captured by a brilliant attack on the morning" of the 10th- Before the attack the British howitzers swept the place so that nothing 1 could live above ground- Our men followed close upon a hurricane of shells, one force working from the south, another swinging northwards in order to cut off the enemy's retreat ,nnd a third party attacked the German 'Fusiliers holding a sunken road with machine-guns. There was little fighting, and when ihe enemy saw the Britishers they surrendered quickly.
&UEMY ATTACKSCRUSHED BY THE BRITISHLONDON, March 11. Field-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig reports: Our artillery crushed enemy attempts to attack west and north-west of Lens. The artillery is active on the Somme and the Ancre, and at Armentieres, Ypres, and southward of Arras.

A trench communique stales: An enemy surprise attack in the region -| f Paissy, between Soissons and Rheims, was completely repulsed. The enemy sustained loss and left prisoners. "We made progress towards Maisons de ChampUrne. We successfully, raided German trenches north of Sucheprey and Woenvre. Wo had patrol encounters in the sector of Auberide and Lorraine, in which wo took prisoners.
