AFTER ELEVEN DAYS.

MISSING AND FOUND. fBY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL TO “STAR.”] AUCKLAND, This Day. After eleven days in the bush, Fraser Campbell was on Tuesday last restored to his relatives. Since last Friday week search parties have set out daily from Waipu to find the missing man. His tracks were followed over some of the roughest country and densest bush in the district to a point about twelve miles from Waipu. on the property of Mr. Douglas Mulling. Here the tracks were lost beside a creek where a crossing had been made by means of a fallen sapling. On Tuesday morning the Waipu search party received information that Campbell had called at the house of Mr. Davidson, of Manngaturoto, and offered to buy food. He was detained until identified by the police and removed to Maungaturoto, where he received medical attention, afterwards being driven to the home of Mr. D. McLeod in Waipu. It appears that the mind of the missing man had been affected by recent illness and he had wandered aimlessly abouth the hush until compelled by hunger and sickness to call at Mr. Davidson’s house. During the whole of the eleven days Campbell had had no food but nikan pith and taraire berries and had slept in the open without an overcoat or other covering. He was in a much better condition when found than might have been expected after such a rough experience. The weather had been wet and windy and very cold at night. His mental state lias already improved and no evil results or permanent injury are anticipated,' The patience and persistence of the search parties and the number of searchers who volunteeed for what proved arduous work and the feeling of relief generally expressed at Campbell being found alive, speak well for the neighborly helpfulness of the settlement.
