INMGAHUA TROTTJ' fLUB

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above : was held at the City HoteF, Reefton, on Thursday evening. There was about fitly member? 1 present. Mr. W. A. Sta'rleton was Vjted to the chair. The snnual report was submitted as follows i—"ln presenting the annual report to member* we have to congratulate them .ipon the success that has continued to attend the operations of the Club during the past season, the year just ended Having been the most successful in the history of tiie Club. "The Annual Meeting on November 19th, 1913, was i pronounced success from a sporting, as well as a financial, point of view. The meeting was largely Attended, by visitors from all parts ->f the West Ccast, thus showing the still growing popularity of the Club and course with owners as wel las the general public. "The totalisator investments for the dbv were the handsome sum of £4,671 —a record for the Club, and £76fl more than the amount invested at tho. mevious meeting. The gate • receipts also show an increase, being £l4 larger. The nomination and acceptance fees also show a slight increase. For the first time in the history of the Cinb, the New Zealand Trotting Association was represented at the meeting, Mr. D. H. Roberts acting in that capacity, and that gentleman's report to the ruling body was extremely satisfactory, both upon the conduct, of the meeting and the racing track and appointments. "Your Committee, has applied to.the New Zealand Trotting Association for November 25th, 1914, as the date of the annual trotting meeting, and hope that this will meet with the approval of members. "The Club is now clear of all indebtedness, and the Committee transferred from tiro Current Account at the National Bank of New Zealand, Ltd., to the Post Office Savings Bank, the sum of £so' thus forming the nucleus of a raserv-3 fund. They would, therefore, suggest to the incoming. Committee 'to add further to this amount as funds permit, so :hat any contingency that may arise will be fully provided for.. "The racing track shows some signs of wear, and it will be necessary to incur farther expenditure in repairing and in-proving, so that it will maintain its reputation as a fast and safe course. "The annual conference of Trotting Clubs was. held at Wellington in July list, and Mr.' B. P. McMahon attended as the Club's delegate, and the Club hh.s.t'' be congratulated upon its able representation on that occasion." The balance-sheet shewed a credit balance of £57 17s 2d, besides a deposit iri the Post Office Savings Bank of £SO. The receipts were' principally, totalisa tor £495. nominations r.nd acceptances £lO.l 18s, gate, and grandstand £ll9 18s s.-de of privileges £4l, members sub'scrintions £34 13s. The expenditure totalled £762 4s Id. the principal items being stakes £350. totalisator tax £l2l 10s 3d, and tote commission £7O Is 3d The'report -im.l balance-sheet were received and adopted. , ■ .; The election of Committee resulted in the following .being returned:—E. Cohen 25, J. C. Pasco© 25. The Chairman then called for suggestions to the incoming Committee respecting the affairs of the Club, and Mr. A. M. Carrol moved that' the standing orders be suspended' in order to take notice of motion that the rule be amended so that members voting at an election must vote for the full number of committeemen required. This was seconded by Mr S. Austin and carried. Mr O'Brien suggested that a small committee be'appointed to revise the rules and submit same to a special meeting, and on Mr C J. Blackmore's proposition it was carried"Tnatlhe Committee appoint a subcommittee for this purpose. Mr. A M. Carrol proposed as a recommendation to the Programme Committee that the principal race be raised to ±»IUU, with a time.limit of 5.15. Votes of thanks to the Scrutineers and the Chairman concluded the meeting. At the meeting of Committee held subsequently, Md. J. B. Discaciatr was appointed treasurer and Mr. J. Noble secretary. The night of meeting was fixed for the fourth Thursday of each ■ month. The meeting then adjourned till Thursday next, July 2nd. .
