PRIZE PRESENTATION
GREY MOUTH DISTRICT HIGH ‘SCHOOL. The medals and prizes gained last year by the pupils of 'the Greymonth District High -School were presented yesterday afternoon. The School Committee were represented by -Messrs G. Sweetman A. Thug, and W. Boucher, while the Von. Archdeacon York and thy Rev. A. Ashcroft were among the others present. Air. J. F. Wilson, acting Rector, apologised for the absence through indisposition, of the Rector, Air. A. A. Adams. It was, said Air. Wilson, an unfortunate circumstance, but Air. Adams was anxious that the prizes should be presented on the day fixed. He then called on Air. G. Sweetman to present the prizes. Air. Sweetman congratulated the prizewinners on their industry and stated that the funds to procure the prizes had been derived from the socials given last winter. Yen. Archdeacon York, on behalf of the Trustees of the Watkins • Afedal Fund, presented this year’s modal to Edward Malloch. 'I ne Archdeacon traced the- history of the medal, and said that tile first recipient was the present Afayor of Greymouth, Air. G. E. Perkins. He paid a tribute to the excelent work done by Air. P. C. Heaphy, who had taken the place of Ms father in managing the fund. Rev'. A. Ashcroft also »poke a few words to the children. The following were the prize-winners: AIEDALS. Watkins AI *clal. —Edward Alalloch, 1912, Other winners : —l9ll, Elvera Alacaulay, (medal forwarded to Christchurch, where winner is now (resident); 1915, James Young Save {medal not yet received from London). Secldon Aledals. —The following pupils of the school present at the presentation of prizes are winners of the Seddon models :—Lurline Bennington (winner girl’s Seddon Aledal. 1911), John Cairney (winner boy’s Seddon Aledal, 1911); Edward Alalloch (winner boy’s Seddon Aledal. 1912).
