THE ELECTORAL LAW
AMENDMENTS BEFORE NEXT ELECTION.
(By Telegraph—Special to the Star.) ■ WELLINGTON, This Day. In the course of chief discussion on the Imprest Supply Bill yesterday afternoon questions were addressed to the Prime Minister on different topics. Replying to Mr Sidey, who desired to know the nature of the proposed amendments to the electoral law, and when they would be introduced, Mr Massey said that there were a number of far more important Bills to be dealt with before an Electoral Bill could be considered.
“First,” added the Premier, “there is an Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration
' ; there is an important Native Land Bill f and the Bill dealing with the reform of the Legislative Council. These are some Bills of urgent importance, and 1 think will occupy a considerable amount of the time of the House this session. When these more important Bills have been settled, then perhaps an amendment of the electoral law may come before Parliament. Whether it will come before Parliament prorogues this session will depend on the progress of business, but it will certainly come before Parliament before next election,” declared the Premier.
