METHODIST CHURCH

Successful Sunday school anniversary services were held at St. Paul’s Methodist Church yesterday. The service in the morning was conducted by the Rev. T. N. Griffin, the Rev. W. J. Cookson, Runanga, giving the address. The subject w s "Our Father which are in eHaven,” and was treated in a manner full of interest and instruction. Prior to the address the Rey. T, N, Griffin tendered his personal thanks and the thanks of the congregation for the kindness shown by Mr Cookson in supplying the pulpit upon so many occasions during his residence hero. The services had always been highly appreciated. A fraternal interest was expressed in his projected departure for Canada, and also best wishes for his future career. In the afternoon the Rev. T. N. Griffin officiated, and delivered an address on “Samuel,” the name being used in ah aciostio manner. The attention of the scholars was fully maintained and useful lessons wore illustrated and urgtd. In the evening, wdien the congregation was specially good, Mr Griffin again conducted the service, and gave a special address to the young men and young women, the subject being “Youthful Visions.” At each of the services the scholars and teachers san prepared hymns in an excellent manner. The soloists were Mrs J. S. Young, and Misses C. Hopkins and R. Holded; also by Misses Grams, Linscott and Mclntosh (2), scholars of the school. Mr J. 0. Haw’kins, who had been engaged for several weeks in training the, children, conducted the singing at each of the services. , Miss C. Hopkins presided at the organ, Mrs F. Hopkins assisting as .accompanist.
