NE TEMERE DECREE

THE POSITION IN CANADA

■ „ OTTAWA, June 18. The Supreme Court of Canada decided that the Canadian Parliament had no power to enact legislation of the character of the Lancaster Marriage Bill arighg out of the No Temere decree. The decision means that authority to enact marriage laws rests entirely with the provincial legislatures.

The Court decided that the law of Quebec -does not render mixed marriages null and void, whether performed by a Catholic priest or by a Protestant clergyman. • - - ;
