ADDINGTON LIVE STOCK MARKET.

At the Addington Yards on Wednesday medium entries came forward in all sections, but the fact that the freezing factories open on Friday made no appreciable difference in the yarding of fat lambs and sheep. There was the customary attendance and all sections of the sale were followed closely. On account of the Christmas and New Year holidays a double market- will be held on December 20th, and there will be no sale during the Christmas-New Year week. FAT CATTLE. .

In this section of the sale the entries totalled 250 head, compared with 312 at the sale held on November 29th. The entry was comprised largely of North'lsland cattle, the proportion or Canterbury-bred beef being comparatively small. Steer beef was a- shade easier than on November 29th, but on the other hand there was a slightly better demand for cow beef. The price of beef ranged from 25s to 335. Steers made £8 17s 6d to £l2 12s 6d, heifers £5 15s to £9 7s 6d, and dry cows £5 5s to £9. VEALERS.

- The customary number of fat calves were. penned, the majority being ol medium size, few large calves coming forward, and representative prices ranged from 4s 6d to £2 lis, according to quality.

STORE CATTLE, :; There was a better yarding of store cattle, and the demand for all descriptions was brighter than mt recent, sales. Fifteen to eighteen-months old sorts made £2 ss, two-year steers £4 2s 6d to £5 Bs, three-year heifers £4 9 to £5 7s, and dry cows £1 15s to £4 2s 6d. DAIRY COWS. The milch cows wei*e mostly of an indifferent class. For the best description there was a free demand for good cows, and representative prices ranged from £3 10s to £9 10s. FAT SHEEP. ' There was only a small yarding of fat sheep, nearly all being out of the wool, and the sale opened well, prices being firmer than in the previous week. Despite the abstention of freezing operators the market improved as it proceeded, prices rising steadily, and, taken all round, values were Is per head better than those ruling a week earlier The range of prices was —prime short wethers .17s fid to 22s 3d, lighter 15s to 17s, woolly ewes 15s lOd to 18s 9d, prime, shorn ewes 16s to 20s 3d, extra to 22s 2d, others 13s lid to 15s 9d, shorn merino wethers 13s 6cL I FAT LAMBS.

The yarding of fat lambs aggregated 520, or a reduction of nearly 200. compared with the previous sale. Prices on the whole were better than on November 29th, values, ranging from lis to 18s, the bulk! of the yarding finding purchasers at prices between 15s and 18s, prices being Is in advance of those ruling a week earlier. STORE SHEEP.

There was only a moderate yarding of store sheep. Shorn two-tooth ewes made 13s 9d to 15s 4d, shorn ewes with lambs (all counted) 9s 2d to 12s 3d, according to the age and condition of the ewes ; woolly ewes with lambs, all counted, 12s lid to 14s 2d; shorn four and six-tooth wethers, 14s 5d to 15s 8d; small four-tooth wethers, in the wool, 13s 4d ; shorn two-tooth wethers, lis 6d to 12s 3d; shorn mixed tAvotooths, 10s 6d for small sorts to 13s for good, a few of inferior quality changing hands at 9s 4d to 10s. PIGS.

The entry of fat pigs was only a medium one, all classes being represented. The demand for all sorts showed little change from the previous week, but the bidding for porkers was more free. Choppers made £2 10s to '£4 18s, heavy baconers £3 to £3 12s, and lighter sorts £2 10s to £2 17s 6d, these prices being equivalent to s£d to sgd per lb. The larger porkers realised £1 17s 6d to £2 7s, and lighter sorts £1 10s to £1 15s, equal to 6d per lb. There was a large entry of stores find a good demand, but weaners were slightly easier. Sows and litters made £4 to £5 ss, and sows in pig £2 7s 6d to £3 3s. ' Large stores made £1 10s to £1 15s, and medium sorts £1 2s. Ordinary weaners made 10s to 18s, extra good sorts making to 21s 6d.
