Waitemata. OPPOSITION GAINS. Duncdin Central. Auckland West. Oamaru. Waipawa. Tanmaranui. Waikato. Raglan. EXCITEMENT AT DTJNEDIN. [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL TO THE STAB.] DUNEDIN, This Day. The majority of Mr. Statham for Dunedin Central, and the positions occupied by Messrs Bedford and MacManus for Dunedin West and Dunedin South respectively were the surprises at this end of the Dominion in yesterday's polling. How the Munroites will go next Thursday it is impossible to say, but that Mr. Thomson will retain Dunedin North is beyond doubt. The Prohibitionists got a set back occupying a less favoi'able position in Dunedin combined, Dunedin South and Chalmers than in 1908.
