The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 60 degrees, and the minimum for the night was 48 degrees. At nine oclock this morning the temperature was 56 degrees. The barometer registered 29.70. The rainfall for the 24 hours was 0.41 inches. WIATHEE REPOETB. Westport. Wind, west-south-west breeze; barometer, 29.67; thermometer, 51 degrees; tides good; bar rough. Greymouth.—Wind, south-west, moderate gale; barometer, 29.71; thermometer, 56 degrees; tides good; bar considerable. WEATHER FORECASTS. Last evening; the dominion metoerologist telegraphed the following wepther*summary and forecast: —" The barometer fell'to 28.47 at 8.30 a.m. to-day at the Bluff, which is the lowest pressure ever recorded in New Zealand. Northerly and westerly winds, strong to heavy gales have been experienced, ancb tain has fallen in many parts of the country. Present indications are for high westerly winds and squally and showery weather. The barometer will'probably rise for a short time in tho south,-but another low pressure area is due to follow in the south." The Rev. D. C. Bate wired to-day at noon as follows -—"Westerly strong to gaie"; winds backing after sisfcrn hours. Expect showery and changeable weather, river high; glass rise slowly, but glass fa-T after twenty-four hours; tides high; sea heavy."
