METEOROLOGICAL.
THE SUN. . The sun sets to-day at 6.24 p.m. ; rises to-morrow at 5.5 a.m. THE MOON. Sets to-day at 0.31 p.m.; rises to-mor-row at 3.25 a.m. LOCAL REPORT. The maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 59 degrees and the minimum for the night 40 degrees. At nine o'clock this morning the temperature was 52 debgroes. The barometer registered 29.23. The rainfall for the 24 hours was 8.13; WEATHER REPORTS. Westport. Wind, west and northwest ; moderate gale; barometer 29.26; thermometer, 49 'degrees; tides moderate ; bar moderate; river moderate ire'sh. Orevmouth. —Wind, northwest fresh breeze; barometer, 29.23; thermometer, 50 degrees; tides good; bar heavy; river considerable fresh. WEATHER FORECASTS. The Dominion Meteorologist last eyoning issued the following summary and forecast:—"Westerly winds, strong to gale, have prevailed, ■ witli a southerly tendency and squally and showery weather has been reported in many places to-day and changeable conditions have prevailed. The Barometric, gradient has decreased to-day, hut conditions are still somewhat ominous." Present indications are for westerly,to southerly winds, strong to gale with squally and showery weather in most parts of tho country at present, but will probably rise everywhere in about thirty-six hours."
The Rev. D. C. Batea (Government Meteorologist) wired at noon to-day as follows:—
"Heavy westerly gale veering to the southerly after sixteen hours. Expect unsettled and cloudy weather; heavy lain probable, and snow in high country, weather much colder, tides high, sea very heavy on the Coast; glass rise after sixteen hours." ANOTHER. STORM PREDICTED.
The Dominion Meteorologist notifies another storm appears to be developing in the south, r,nd much colder weather may be looked for, with rain, hail and snow on the higher levels. Expect prolonged southerly spell."
