CRICKET.

RAISING A LEVY. WELLINGTON, This Day. In order to raise funds to clear off liabilities 5 the Cricket Association has decided to make a levy of 1/- on senior and 6d on junior players for every playing Saturday this season. Third class players are exempted. A resolution was passed giving power 10, make-a levy whenever the funds needed. . , It is expected that £l5O will he raised this summer, and that no further call will be needed.

BOXING.

MEETING OF THE WEST COAST ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Committee of the West Coast Association was held last night in the Albion Hotel at which there were present, Messrs G. E. Perkins (in the chair). D. McKav. W. ELssenhardt, F. C. Wade, J. F. Wilson and F. W. Iveddell (secretary). A letter was received from D. Murphy •of Auckland declining to compete in the professional bout against ' Tracy as arranged and the Secretary was instructed to ask him for more satisfactory reasons than he had hitherto adduced. The entries for the amateur events published in last' night's Star, were then considered' end owing to their nnmbering not wanvnting a two night tournament, it was decider! to confine it to one night only. viz. Saturday night, when the four events will be decided, viz :_Fly. Bantam, Fe-ather and Licrht in tint order. The entries in the middle and heavy-weight 'classes were "ordered to be returned to the nominators. It was decided to award a troohy of the value of £5 for i four round amateur bo"t between J. Mullholland of Blackball and A. Mussenn of Cobden, a, match that the Committee considers very pven. Tt was refolded to match winners in the amateur bouts with comoetitiors from -uitsid" associations about the middle of nevt February.
