OBITUARY. JACOB McKENNY, REEFTON.

The nows of the sudden death of Mr Jacob McKenny was received with much regret and surprise in Reefton on Friday evening. The deceased had reached the ige of 77 and had been ailing for some time, yet his end was not so soon exDec. ted.

He had been left quietly reading' ■in bed, and on his son going in to see him, his quiet appearance arSused his fears, •,nd on closer examination it was found that he had passed quietly away in his Jeep. Much sympathy is expressed for his widow and family in their sudden bereavement-

The deceased Mr McKenny originally ame from Australia, where he had been previously married, bringing his first •'amily with him, two of whom, daughters, 'will he remembered in Reefton, tbe elder having married the late Mr John Kennery, and another Mr Butler, of Butler Bros., sawmillers, of Hokitika. Later Mr McKenny married his present wife, •md leaves two other sons and a daughter, all grown up. to mourn the loss of a rood and loving father. The late Mr McKenny lived for some vears in Black’s Point, being interested in mining, and being manager of different mines for many years, and was always held in the highest esteem by all who knew him.

The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, and was attended by a. large number of old citizens. Tbe burial service was solemnised by tbe Rev. F. Quintrell.
