PERSONAL NOTES.
His Lordship Bishop Julius' is expected on the Coast in tho near future. The Right Rev. Bishop Grimes is shortly expected to make a pastoral visit to the Coast. Mr J. W. Easson leaves by tho Wainui on Monday for Wellington. Mr Percy Ear-son will leave next week, Mr John Myers, representing Myers and Co., of Wellington, will leave for Reefton this evening, returning next wee Tc. Mr William Espio, representing Turnbull and Co., leaves for Wellington per Wainui on Tuesday morning. Messrs. A. T. Maginnity, W. N. Franklyn, and Thos. J. Baigent have been reelected unopposed' to the Nelson Education Board, District President Bro. E. Ashton and Bro. G. Martin have been appointed to open tho Westport Druids' Lodge on Monday next. Bro. H. E, West intended to ho resent, but owing to pressure of business will bo unable to attend, Mr W. Winchester, who has been relieving Mr A. Aitkon, manager of the Bank of New oaland at Ross, returned to Hokitika yesterday, .or Aitken has sufficiently recovered from his recent illness to return to his duties. We regret to learn that Mr W. D. Revington, of Revington’s Hotel, has been confined to his room during the last two or three days—another victim of the prevailing complaint, influenza. We hope, however, to sec him as live again as a cricket in a day or two. Mr Phil Skoglund, who was recently transferred from Greymouth to Taranaki, is taking the same keen interest in sporting circles as he did on the Coast. Mr Skoglund is Secretary of tho Taranaki Rugby Cnion, and has refereed several important football matches, which have recently taken place in tho North Island. Mr Atkinson, a nephew of the late Sir Harry Atkinson, and first cousin to our much respected resident dentist, Mr R. H. Richmond, is at present in town. Mr Atkinson is on the engineering and survey stall' connected with tho Public Works’ Department. During tho last three weeks he has been engaged on works in progress south of Hokitika. Ho leaves this evening by train to Otira to resume work in connection with the East and West Coast railway undertaking. Mr’. Atkinson and his men are camped about '.mid-way between the Otira and tho Boaley, and being at a high altitude, their lot during this lime of the year is not what may bo called a pleasant one.
A man applied for a prohibition order against his wife at the Magistrate's Oourt Christchurch. The wife appeared and raised no objection to the granting of an order, but before leaving (ho Court she turned round and exclaimed : “Now, will you give me an order against my husband, your Worship?” The Bench smiled broadly, and advised her to file a formal application.
