Powelka, the escaped prisoner, was captured on Sunday morning in a hay loft-near Ashurst. Although armed with two revolvers he offered no resistance. It is a coincidence that Constable Gallagher, who was instrumental in effecting the arrest was the officer from whose charge Powelka escaped at Wellington Gaol on March 23rd.
