JNlr* J. W. Fowler, who has carried on a successful blacksmithing business in Collingwood for some time, notifies that he has disposed of his business to Mr H. Attention is directed to a notification elsewhere that the Bainham people are organising an entertainment in aid of the local Piano Fund. The date has been fixed for Friday (to-morrow) week, and-given a nice evening, the entertainment should attract a large number of people. We understand the concert is likely to be repeated in Collingwood at an earlv date.

The case of the Collingwood Miners' and Labourers' "Union against the Parapara Sluicing Company which is to come before the Conciliation Board at Nelson is still awaiting the swearing in of the Board by a Supreme Court Judge. The case is one of an adjustment of wages of the workmen at the Parapara, the request of the men being an increase from 8/- to 9/per day. It is anticipated that quite a considerable number of witnesses will be taken from here to Nelson in connection with the matter. The death of President McKinley, which took place on Sunday last, was marked in our community by the flying of flags at half-mast from many of the business places. The United States President was shot by an Italian assassin about a week previously, and although early indications pointed, to recovery, grave symptoms set in later, and ended in death as above stated. The awful tragedy has created a profound sensation all over the world. Wade's Worm Figs are most effective and not unpleasant; children thrive after taking them. Price, Is. L.
