TINKER A special meeting of the Auckland District Committee of the Neyv Zealand Racing- Conference wag held during the week to consider the appeal of A. Tinker, jockey , against his suspension for three months by the Rotorua Racing Club for crossing too quickly on I.imex in t.he Borough Handicap, thus interfering with Hampton Park. The appeal yvns dismissed. and Tinker’s deposit of £5, lodged with the appeal, wag ordered to be forfeited. NOVICE HURDLER Val Watch, who, in consequence of her bad manners at the post, was put on the schooling list, and tried over hurdles at To Aroha on Saturday. She gave a very creditable showing for a novice, being one of the leaders into the straight, where she faded out (says the Auckland Star), ’this filly has a lot of speed, and once she settles d!own to the jumping game she will beat more than beats her. SOLOMON IN FORM Solomon ran a couple of good races at To Aroha- On Saturday he was one of the quickest to begin in the Waitoa Handicap, and though Bellkyrian headed him before, the home turn he came again, to beat her by- a short head. Tn the Elstow Handicap on Monday- he yvas first into the home stretch, and it was onlyover the last hundred yards that he weakened, to be beaten out of a place- Solomon is at the top of bis form just now. and is likely to win again shortly. MAY DO BETTER AT PUKEKOHE Although King Musk was not taken to Te Aroha meeting (says a northern writer) there is nothing wrong with the Musketoon gelding, and all going well he x\ ill contest the. Hack Cup at Pukekohe on Saturday. This three year old was beaten on the same course in the Ohaeawai Hack Cup about throe weeks ago. but has trained on exceedingly well since then. He will be an improved horse when be goes to the post at the end of this week and should be capable of registering a solid performance. RIGHT UP TO FORM Cadlanci was about at his best at Te Aroha. On Saturday- he was near the tai lof the field till the home turn. e„ud finished on gamely to get third, a little over half a length behind Star Artist -and' Gay Sheila. 011 Monday he was installed favourite for the Tourist Handicap, run over seven furlongs, and Diagano yvas the only one behind him as thye turned for home. From there on he finished brilliantly to mawe a dead heat of it with Impaste. C'adland should pay expenses at Trcnthain . this month. ALL RIGHT AGAIN Silver Ring’s check on the eve of the C.J.C. Midsummer meeting yvas only a slight one. He is galloping as yvell as ever and at Riccarton last Saturday he sprinted half 3 mile with

all his customary dash. He should be at his best again for the Wellington meeting-. THE Y.R.C. MEETING The, V.K.C. autumn meeting- at Flemington will open tomorrow, when the programme will include the St. Leger and the Newmarket Handicap, the- chief sprinting event of the year in the Commonwealth. Golden Wings is an interesting New Zealand candidate for the Newmarket, which is run on a straight track. YOITRE JUST IN FRONT W ith the Te Aroha meeting- concluded, L. J. Ellis has closed K. Voitre's lead on the jockey premiership list to a bare two. Vo it re was riding- at Bulls ou Wednesday but he failed to improve on these figures—Voifre 40 Ellis 44. REBEL SONG’S LAMENESS There is not much hope of Rebel Song- surviving a preparation, which had reached the testing stage. He galloped well in a trial at Riccarton last Saturday > but wrflked off vertlame, and he looks a hopeless proposition for the autumn. This time last year he had won the Trial Stakes at the Canterbury Jockey Club’s meeting, and was regarded as a certainty, which he subsequently proved to be, for the Highweight race at Motukarara. J 1 is next victory was the Great Easter Handicap. WAI MATE MEETING OFF The Waimate Racing Club has decided that, owing to paucity of nominations, it cannot hold the meeting scheduled for March 15. and it has abandoned it. The club will now apply for permission to use its permit on April iq, subject to the consent of the South Canterbury Jockey Club and the Canterbury District Committee. BIG MONEY Added money (inclusive of the value of two trophies) for the 24 races at the Australian Jockey Club’s autumn meeting to be held at Randwick at Easter, is .£26,050.
