LEOPARD TACKLED
WI TH BARE FISTS PLUCKY VILLAGERS (Aust. and N.Z. Cable) (Received Eeb. 28, 2 p.m.) Calcutta, Eeh. 27 Remarkable gallantry on the nart of Indian villagers in their continual tight against the ravages of wild beasts was illustrated when five were admitted to the hospital in Calcutta. They had been mauled by a leopard for which they lay in wait, attacking it only with their bare fists. The leopard escaped and returned to its business of cattle killing. The villagers frequently fight marauding tigers with sticks.
