CHILD FALLS ON LINE DRIVER’S PROMPT ACTION (Per Press Association) Palmerstn N., February 27 Quick action on the part of the driver of the New Plymouth express yesterday afternoon prevented an accident at the Longburn railway station. When tile train was approaching the station a young girl fell from tile platform of the permanent way in front of the engine. The driver immediately applied the brakes, and the train was brought to a standstill in about half its length. The train does not stop at Longburn, and was consequently approaching the station at a fair speed.
