The death has occurred! at Chicago of Mr Daniel Protheroe, 67. a famous English conductor and composer of choral music. Among- the arrivals by the Marama yesterday was a member of the Swedish nobility. Count llarald von Rosen, on a world tour. He will spend a fortnight in the Dominion. Misg L T . Clapham has been appointed additional assistant teacher at Lytton street school in the place of Miss Smith, who takes up duties attire Takaroa school tomorrow. Mr J. A. Brailsford, who for the past four years has been tutor-or-ganiser of the Workers’ Educational Association for the Victoria University College district on the Feilding circuit, has been appointed by the University of Tasmania to be tutorial class lecturer for Northern Tasmania.
