The accused mumbled: “A s usual.” A Swedish criminologist and a Dutch journalist testified that on their visits to the gaol Vande.rlubbe showed no sign of ill-treatment. Constable Heisig in evidence said that Vanderlubbe originally freely confessed to making three attempts at incendiarism.
