The change-over from standard fares to day. half-day and i>eriod excursion fares on the British railways resulted during the first half of tlie current year in a considerable increase in passenger traffic. Passenger journeys made in the period, excluding season ticket holders, totalled 534,738,215, representing an increase of 1.978.709 on the corresponding period of 1932.
