Provided pedigree cattle were exempted from tlie Bill for the compulsory dehorning of cattle it would not prove unpopular, according to the Hon. C. E. Macmillan replying to a deputation from the Wellington Live Stock and Butchers’ Association, which urged compulsory dehorning. The Minister gave a sympathetic hearing ami indicated that lie would take steps this session of Parliament to introduce a Bill on the matter. The depuration stressed the benefit of dehorning, not only from a ■humanitarian point, of view, hut front the point of view of economic loss in damage to hides and meat.
