An action was brought; by the Grown against tlie Inglewood Borough Council to determine the principle as to whether a local rating authority could exercise its power of sale for the recovery of overdue rates on land over which the Crown held : mortgage. The judgmenit of Mr Justice Blair, who heard the case at the la.F: sessions of the Supreme Court, goes in favour of the rating authority, his Honour holding that tthev have a right to exercise powers of sale and that overdue states are the first charge against the proceeds.
